I am very proud to announce that the Laura Olivia Textile Design Studio was chosen as an SBS winner by Theo Paphitis the very first time on entering the competition!. For those of you not familiar with this, Small Business Sunday (shortened to #SBS on Twitter) was created by entrepreneur & my favourite dragon, Theo Paphitis.
Theo is the chairman of Ryman Stationery, Boux Avenue and Robert Dyas, and also joint owner of Red Letter days, in addition to being an investor and mentor to young businesses that have dared to enter the den.
Every Sunday Theo asks that businesses describe what they do in one tweet, ensuring to use the #SBS hashtag. He then selects 6 of his favourite every week and retweets them to his 500,000 followers.
You are probably wondering if this actually gets you anywhere! Well as soon as I won I was flooded by engagement on twitter and received over 100 new followers. There is an SBS community where you can upload your profile and network with all sorts of companies. It really is what you make of it in terms of promoting your win and being part of the SBS family. You can also go along to a yearly event where you will receive your certificate from the man himself. I don’t usually enter many competitions but I thought one tweet that basically said we design beautiful patterns wasn’t much to ask so was definitely worth the few minutes it took to write!.
