The Laura Olivia print design studio is now celebrating its 6th birthday & boy have we come along way!. Here are 6 of our highlights from the past 12 months;
Being featured in the fabulous ‘Fashion & Textile Business Entrpreneurship’ by Carol Brown who is such a lovely lady & was kind enough to give us a 2 page spread in her new book!. It really does aim to give surface design students & graduates a much better idea about what it takes to set up & run your own business, including lots of useful information that isn’t generally covered at university, so we were delighted to be involved.
Expanding our design team to include some amazingly talented pattern designers !
We’ve had some really interesting projects this year and really love it when we get to work with clients in unusual places. Our favourite and furthest flung this year was in Haiti & producing designs that reflect the Haitian culture was really inspiring, we can’t wait to share the final result once these products are launched.
The rebrand & re-launch of the Laura Olivia website has been a long time coming & so it feels so good to finally have a site that works for us & that we can have more control over. As the studio has grown we have tried to reflect that within our new logo & branding which feels a little more sophisticated, we hope it shouts design studio rather than struggling freelancer as we were 6 years ago!
I’ve been working with Pattern Observer on & off this year as a guest expert in their textile design lab, giving advise to students mainly about the home decor industry & feeding back on their work which has been really rewarding & something which I’d love to continue.
Last but not least & on a personal note, the birth of my daughter Jasmine who was born in July (9 weeks early) and certainly knows how to make an entrance!
